The former capital and biggest city of Yugoslavia, Belgrade is one of the oldest cities in Europe and keeps many secrets, which are revealed only to those who visit it. Novi Sad – easy going and surrounded by fertile lowland, the Fruška Gora mountain and the Danube river, the charming capital city of Vojvodina is a pearl among the Serbian cities. Because of its cultural importance, it is also called „Serbian Athens“ and is home to south-east Europe's largest music festival - EXIT, which has earned a global reputation for its diversity and cutting-edge music. On this tour we visit the main attractions in the city center and the underground tunnel complex of the Petrovaradin fortress.


Irig was first mentioned in the historical documents in 1225. In the 15th century, the masters of the town were Serbian despots Vuk GrgurevićĐorđe Branković, and Jovan Branković. During the 15th and 16th century, ten Orthodox monasteries were built in the surrounding of Irig (Two of those were located just near the town). Located on the southern slopes of Fruška Gora, Irig has a specific microclimate which provides excellent conditions for viticulture.

4rd day | Novi Sad – Sombor – Belgrade

The first historical record about the city is from 1340. The city was administered by the Kingdom of Hungary until the 16th century, when it became part of the Ottoman Empire. During the establishment of Ottoman authority, local Hungarian population left from this region. During the Ottoman administration, the city was populated mostly by ethnic Serbs. We are going to visit biggest painting in Serbia  - the impressive painting of Battle of Senta .

5th day | Belgrade – Golubac – Kapetan Mišin Breg – Lepenski Vir – Belgrade

The imposing Golubac Fortress was a medieval fortified town on the south side of the Danube River, 4 km downstream from the modern-day town of Golubac. The fortress, which was most likely built during the 14th century, is split into three compounds and has ten towers. It had a tumultuous history, especially during the Middle Ages, when it became the object of many battles between the Ottoman Empire and the Kingdom of Hungary.

Kapetan Mišin Breg is an authentic open-air art gallery that serves authentic Serbian food along with an amazing view of the Danube in the Djedarp gorge.

15h45 – 17h00 Visit to Lepenski Vir archeological site;

Lepenski Vir is an important Mesolithic archaeological site showing traces of an advanced civilization that lived there as far as in the year 9500 B.C. The architecture and monumental sculptures found there testimony to a rich social and religious life led by the inhabitants and the high cultural level of these early Europeans.

17h00 – 19h30 Travel back to Belgrade.

6th day | Belgrade – Zlatibor

The Zlatibor mountain is the most popular touristic resort in West Serbia. Besides being a natural air spa, where simply breathing is a therapy for your lungs, this is also a real gourmet destination, where you can taste prsuta (smoked ham), kajmak (a creamy cheese delicacy), “komplet lepinja”,  tea made from mountain herbs and, of course, have a shot of the traditional “sljivovica” – plum rakia.

13h30 – 15h00 Lunch in the Sirogojno ethno restaurant;

The small village of Sirogojno has got a unique open-air museum where they brought original 19th-century log houses from all parts of Zlatibor to be preserved and exhibited. Visitors are able to see and feel how families lived on Serbian mountains back then in a very interesting tour. Although, perhaps the best part is being able to, after the tour, have for lunch some of the most amazing Zlatibor food!


15h00 – 16h00 Visit to Stopica cave;

Stopica Cave is a river cave, the Trnavski brook runs through it. Without its youngest system Stopica Cave is 1.691,5 m long and is composed of 5 units: the Light hall, the Dark hall, the Big hall with tubs, the Canal and the River canal. The tourist part of the Cave has got several attractive elements such as a broad entrance, ‘dugure’ - openings on the ceiling, a sipar arch ‘Dog’s cemetery’, a waterfall ‘The source of life’, and a lot of ‘bigren’ tubs.

7th day | Belgrade – Mokra Gora - Belgrade

The Šargan Eight is a narrow-gauge heritage railway in Serbia, running from the village of Mokra Gora to the Šargan Vitasi station. The former East Bosnian railway with a gauge of 760 mm (2 ft 5 15⁄16 in) was an important part of the former narrow-gauge main line from Sarajevo to Belgrade and closed in 1974. Between 1999 and 2003 the section over the Šargan pass was rebuilt by the Serbian Ministry of Tourism and the Yugoslav State Railway (now the Serbian Railways), with great help from the Serbian movie director Emir Kusturica. Nowadays, travelers have the chance to go on an amazing train ride around the mountains in the Šargan Eight.

The Wooden Town, also known as Küstendorf and Mećavnik, is a traditional village that the Serbian movie director Emir Kusturica built for his film entitled "Life is a Miracle". Thanks to it, Kusturica was the 2005 recipient of the Philippe Rotthier European Architecture award. Although built for a movie, this town houses real buildings, such as a library, an art gallery, a movie theater, a sports hall, a church, a restaurant and even a prison for bad movies.  The streets in the village bear the names of various individuals that Kusturica holds in high esteem or finds to be personally significant. Exploring the Wooden Town is a true joy!
