PCR testing for foreign tourists in Serbia

Updated: Feb 1, 2022

In this article you can learn all about how to get a PCR test in Serbia. If you are already here or planning to visit Serbia, you will probably need a negative PCR test to be able to continue your journey or return to the country you come from, given that most countries require a negative PCR test to enter.

First of all, we will make a difference between two types of PCR testing in Serbia:

1. On-demand PCR testing that suits everyone who wants to travel for tourist purposes (whether they are the local residents who want to travel abroad or foreign tourists who want to visit Serbia and who will need a negative PCR test to leave Serbia)

2. PCR testing or Antigen testing if you have symptoms. If you are in Serbia and have symptoms similar to those caused by COVID19 infection, contact the nearest COVID clinic immediately. See the list of clinics where you can get tested and get medical help HERE (available in Serbian). You can also call +381 64 8945 235 for more information (number opened by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia).

As previously stated, on-demand PCR testing corresponds to the one required for travel abroad and which meets the administrative procedures. There are several locations in Belgrade where you can have a PCR test done:

Institute of Virology, Vaccines and Sera - Torlak (Street Vojvode Stepe 458)

Institute of Biocides and medical ecology (Trebevićka 16)

Clinical center of Serbia (Street Pasterova 2)

City Institute of Public Health (54 Bulevar Despota Stefana Street)

Institute of Public Health of Serbia "Trampoline" (Street Dr Subotića starijeg 5)

In most of them, you can be tested from Monday to Saturday in the period from 8:00 to 15:00 in the time slot that is available or possibly of your choice.

Scheduling a test appointment is mandatory! This can be done through the eUprava portal (maximum 5 people per appointment) or by calling the number of the National Center of the Ministry of Health +381 11 3620000.

Test results are issued within 48 hours of sampling (usually the same day).

On-demand PCR testing is not free of charge. Rate is 6,000 RSD (approx. 52 EUR) for both foreigners and citizens of Serbia. Foreigners with residence in Serbia also.

It is important to emphasize that the payment must be done in person at the post office or bank (by credit card or cash) and for that you will need to fill in the payment slip with your data. You can see an example of a payment slip below:

You should keep a copy as proof of payment and present it when you arrive for testing at the selected clinic at the selected time.
